Thousands Join Pro-Palestinian Rallies as Organisers Pledge to Persist in Activism

Numerous individuals have rallied in various Australian cities at pro-Palestinian protests, with organizers promising to continue protesting after a ceasefire deal facilitated by Donald Trump in Gaza seemed to be taking effect.

Sydney March Draws Large Crowd

In Sydney, the pro-Palestine organization said a crowd of 30,000 had protested from the public gardens to another city park in the city center after a scheduled protest to the Opera House was restricted by the New South Wales court of appeal last week.

NSW police estimated eight thousand participants joined the Sydney protest, with a official stating there had been "no significant incidents".

Countrywide Protests Commemorate Date

Rallies were also conducted in southern city, eastern city and Western Australian city on Sunday to remember 24 months of conflict after Hamas attacks on the date in 2023 resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths in the region.

"Concerning the protest efforts, we'll definitely persist to demonstrate for Palestinian freedom... for self-determination in Gaza, for humanitarian assistance to enter and for residents to restore their communities," stated an activist.

Mixed Reactions to Peace Deal

Numerous demonstrators voiced optimism that the ceasefire would lead to lasting peace. Others were sceptical of the former president's role and urged supporters to continue urging the federal leadership to impose restrictions and halt weapons commerce.

Shamikh Badra, a local with Palestinian heritage living in Sydney, shared he desired the agreement would allow him to bring his elderly mother, who is currently in the region without access to medical care, to Australia, and to locate and inter his family members, who have been lost contact in 2023.

Jewish Australians Holds Commemoration

In another development, many individuals attended a Jewish community commemoration on that night in Sydney's eastern suburbs to remember the occasion of the 2023 incidents. Geoffrey Majzner, the brother of Galit Carbone, an national who was killed during the attacks, was planned to address.

There were wishes for quick release of those still detained in the region and those killed on 7 October. The diplomatic representative, Amir Maimon, recognized the resolve of survivors. The crowd booed when he spoke about the national leader and the top diplomat.

Flotilla Participants Share Experiences

The city's demonstration earlier heard from speakers including several locals let go from imprisonment after the interception of the Sumud flotilla this month.

Surya McEwen, his arm in a sling after it was allegedly dislocated in an incarceration center, shared that insufficient information was available about the ceasefire deal. Worldwide assistance agencies, including relief organizations, were preparing to enter Gaza.

"While circumstances persist where there's a brutal and illegal blockade on Gaza," said McEwen, flotilla activists would continue to try to bring support through maritime routes.

A different activist, who came back to the city on Friday, gave an heartfelt address describing his detention with 83 other men in Israel's Ketziot prison.

Political Statements

The political representative the politician told the crowd: "We cannot let a world where Trump determines the outcome for Palestinian communities to be the kind of world that we live in."

One activist who made the first proposal to demonstrate at the famous location claimed that the protesters could have safely headed to the renowned coastal site. The NSW police assistant commissioner had previously stated the court of appeal that the proposal seemed problematic.

The coordinator commented during the protest: "On each occasion the law enforcement seeks to prevent our rallies or take us to the supreme court, it raises public awareness... to the necessity to organize and oppose such actions."
