Rob Edwards along with O'Neil are two of the early names under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend following the squad's 10-match without a victory start to the top-flight season.

And both candidates - each of whom have historic associations to the club - are part of the options to be considered by the Wolves leadership.

Edwards is presently at another club, which would create a possible hurdle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton Town head coach - who made more than 100 of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is considered a strong contender for the position.

The mid-career manager is said to have backing from the Wolves board as they begin the process of appointing a fresh manager.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected contender, although he would be a surprising choice considering he was released by the club in December last year.

The ex- West Ham player is currently unemployed which means Wolves would not be required to pay any compensation.
