First-year player Henderson has recorded five TDs this season

The New England Patriots tied their best victory streak since the Tom Brady period as they defeated division opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL

First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three TDs as the New England squad secured an eight-game winning streak for the first time since star signal-caller Tom Brady's last year with the franchise in 2019

QB Maye passed for 281 yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 of 34 passes

The win extends the New England's advantage at the top of the AFC East as they improved to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets at the foot after dropping to two victories and eight defeats

The visitors had gone in front at Foxborough with quarterback Justin Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to conclude the New York's opening drive

But the Patriots answered in the second period as Henderson rushed for two seven-yard TDs before the running back caught a pass from Maye at the back of the endzone midway through the third quarter to extend the lead to 21-7

"It was a key occasion for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback said of Henderson. "He aims to be outstanding."

Fields connected with John Metchie late in the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Andy Borregales booted a pair of field goals in the final period as the Patriots sealed the victory
